White Ground Lekythos

White Ground Lekythos 480-470 BCE

In the white ground style, a white slip was painted first as a background The Lekythos was used to pour ritual oils at funeral ceremonies. They typically show domestic scenes such the woman shown here weaving, or images of burial offerings.
