Hittite Goddess

Seated goddess with a child, Hittite Empire, Old Hittite; 15th–13th century BCE
Anatolia, Gold; H. 1 11/16 in. (4.3 cm), W. 11/16 in. (1.7 cm), D. 3/4 in. (1.9 cm)

This is a small pendant which would be worn around the neck. Seated goddess in a long gown with large oval eyes wearing looped earrings and necklace. She wears a headdress, probably representing the sun. This may be the sun goddess Arinna. The chair has lion paws.
